Community Kitchen

It’s not just a thali. It’s Community Kitchen’s story of strength, sisterhood, and the most nourishing food in Zirakpur.

Community Kitchen Thali

Close your eyes and think about the last truly satisfying meal you had. Not just in taste — but in the feeling it gave you, Warmth, Comfort, A sense of belonging.

That’s exactly what you get when you walk into Community Kitchen at VIP Road, Zirakpur. But there’s much more behind every plate than you might expect.

The Langar Legacy That Inspired Us

Punjab follows a 500-year-old tradition of selfless giving through the Langar — the community kitchen at every Gurdwara, where volunteers welcome everyone with food, regardless of caste, religion, or background. Since 1577, this sacred practice has fed millions.

Community Kitchen was born from that same spirit. We took that timeless philosophy — that good food is a right, not a privilege — and built a modern dining space around it, powered entirely by the heart and hands of women.

We believe a better life begins with better food — and better food begins with the hands that cook it with love.

What Makes Our Food Different?

We’re not a typical restaurant. We root every ingredient, every cooking method, and every plating decision in Ayurvedic principles — the ancient Indian science of wellness through food.

  • We cook exclusively in Desi Ghee — real, traditional, nutrient-rich clarified butter
  • Our utensils are made of brass, iron, and clay to preserve the nutritional value of every meal
  • Ingredients are locally sourced and seasonal — farm fresh, not factory fresh
  • All cooking tools are steam-disinfected before use — hygiene is non-negotiable
  • Our women chefs receive regular food safety and hygiene training

When you eat with us, you’re not just getting a full stomach. You’re getting food that was thought about — carefully, consciously, and with deep care for your body.

Real Food, Real Prices, Real Value.

Whether you are a college student watching your budget, a working professional craving a proper home-cooked lunch, or a family tired of ordering from impersonal apps — Community Kitchen welcomes you with open arms.

The Women Behind Your Meal

Here’s the part that makes your meal truly special. Community Kitchen is run by Global Women Power, an NGO dedicated to building financial independence and self-respect in the lives of women.

When you place an order or walk through our door, you’re not just feeding yourself — you’re supporting a woman’s livelihood, funding her financial independence, and contributing to a movement that’s larger than any single meal.

Dishes You Simply Must Try

1. The Regular Thali (₹120)

Our bestseller for a reason. Freshly made rice, soft rotis, a rich seasonal curry, sautéed vegetables, and a cool raita — all made in-house, every single day. No shortcuts. No reheated leftovers. Just honest, filling food.

2. Shahi Paneer Biryani

Aromatic basmati rice layered with tender paneer, whole spices, and slow-cooked masala. This is the kind of biryani that usually costs three times more at a fancy restaurant. We made it affordable because great food shouldn’t be exclusive.

3. Desi Parathas

We cook our parathas in pure desi ghee, butter, oil making them crispy on the outside and soft on the inside — just like your nani used to make. In fact, whether you pick a stuffed aloo paratha with homemade pickle and fresh dahi, or a simple lachha paratha alongside a bowl of dal, the result is always the same — you get Punjabi comfort food at its most authentic. One bite and you’ll understand why no one ever leaves the table hungry.

Free Tea Hour — Come Just for That

Every day from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, we serve free chai to everyone — no purchase required, no strings attached. Just come as you are. Sit with a professor, a stranger, a friend. The tea is our treat.

This isn’t a marketing gimmick. It’s a daily expression of our belief that community is built over shared cups and unhurried conversations.

“Chai is the great equaliser. At Community Kitchen, everybody gets a cup.”
